Coffee roasting Education

Intro-Advanced Coffee Roasting Class - $595

Class Info:

Based on feedback, we have added more hands-on roasting with a professional roaster.  The idea is that we have 3-4.5 hours of lecture time, a coffee cupping, and then a couple of demonstration roasts on the first day.  The next part of the class is scheduled individually throughout the next week or two to spend 1-hour roasting with the teacher and then 1-hour roasting by yourself to practice.

The price for the lecture and hands-on roasting is $595.  The hands-on roasting session is your chance to ask questions and practice with some guidance.

Individual Roasting Class:

1-hour of hands-on roasting with the teacher (open format).  This session is your chance to bring all the questions you have and get them answered.

1-hour of roasting by yourself with supervision.

At the end of either of the two options, you will be certified to roast on the IR-1 and have the ability to schedule roasting sessions for yourself.

This part is scheduled separately, usually on a weekday at 10 am.

Coffee Roasting 101

In this class we focus on understanding roast degree, controlling the roaster, and breaking down the three core phases of roasting. You’ll learn how to recognize key milestones in a roast, write a roast plan, and how to make intentional adjustments instead of guessing.

This class is ideal for anyone new to gas powered drum roasters, or who want a stronger technical foundation and more confidence behind the machine.

Intermediate Roasting: Crop to Cup

In this intermediate class, we zoom out and explore coffee from crop to cup connecting origin, processes, and green buying decisions to your roasting approach. You’ll learn about washed, natural, honey, and wet hulled processes, and how they impact your roast and final cup. This will also be your introduction to Third Wave Roasting theory, using data collection and roasting curves to fine tune your profile for ultimate control.

This class is designed for roasters who want to move beyond the basics and start roasting with deeper context and intention. Starting a roasting business? This class is for you.

Advanced Roasting Concepts (1:1 Intensive)

This is a fully customized, one-on-one roasting intensive just for you.

Advanced Roasting Concepts is designed to meet you exactly where you are, whether you want to refine your profiles, improve consistency, or troubleshoot specific challenges. Together, we’ll assess your goals, evaluate your current approach, and create a focused learning plan.

This private session is ideal for professionals, business owners, or serious roasters ready for tailored mentorship and technical depth.

Intro to Coffee Cupping

In order to know what coffee you like, or how you prefer to roast,  you must learn how to taste it. In this class, you will spend time learning to cup and taste the difference between several different types of coffee, roasted at different depths.

Barista Training

Black Eagle Espresso Machine

Barista 101

There are mediocre made coffee drinks, and then there are deliciously poured espresso beverages. Let us help your baristas pull the perfect shots, steam velvety micro-foam, and craft memorable beverages for your cafes.

Barista 200: Latte Art Intensive

Latte art is an expression that takes well-trained baristas, high-quality milk, perfectly tamped and pulled espresso shots, and of course, lots and lots of practice. Let us help your baristas learn the "art" of pouring every cup.

Barista 300: Advanced Bar Flow

Barista 300 is designed for experienced baristas ready to sharpen their workflow and lead the bar. We’ll cover dialing in single origin espresso, efficient bar flow, pour-over technique, and how to efficiently manage a rush.

For baristas who want to move from “keeping up” to running the show.
